Clemson basketball assistant leaving for different ACC program

Clemson basketball assistant coach Anthony Goins is leaving for an assistant coaching job at Boston College, a source confirmed to on Friday.

Goins joined Clemson’s staff in the summer of 2019 and spent two seasons with the Tigers.

He came to Clemson after previously working as an assistant at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut.

Goins will work under new Boston College head coach and former Tigers assistant Earl Grant at BC. Grant was hired at Boston College earlier this month after previously serving as the head coach at College of Charleston.

Grant spent four seasons as an assistant at Clemson before taking over the Charleston program.

The departure of Goins could explain why forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper entered the transfer portal earlier this week. Prosper appeared in 22 games, with two starts this season before leaving the program.

Three-star guard Lucas Taylor, who was recruited by Goins and signed with the Tigers, was granted his release from Clemson earlier this week.
